ANDRITZ to Supply Recovery Boiler Upgrade, New Ash Leaching Plant and Lime Kiln to Andhra Paper, India
International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from Andhra Paper Limited in Rajahmundry, India for a recovery boiler upgrade and sustainable technologies to increase capacity and reach environmental goals at the mill.
Along with the recovery boiler capacity upgrade, the order also includes an ash leaching system which will remove non process elements, minimise chemical loss in the recovery cycle and improve runnability and life of the recovery boiler, and a lime kiln which will reduce solid wastes and gaseous emissions.
Sura Reddy Mallidi, Senior Vice President (Mill Operations) of Andhra Paper Limited said, “With this investment, we will be using ANDRITZ proven technologies to improve reliability and efficiency at our Rajahmundry mill.”
ANDRITZ’s scope of supply includes the following:
- Recovery boiler capacity upgrade from 1,300tds/d to 1,500tds/d on EPC basis, which is to be installed and started-up during the planned mill shutdown. The key delivery includes air system upgrade and super heater modification.
- New ash leaching plant (ALE) removes the non process elements chloride and potassium from the Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) ash while recovering sodium and sulphate to the chemical recovery cycle. The plant to be supplied on EPS basis is designed to handle 95 tonnes of ash per day.
- New lime kiln with a capacity of 190t/d burnt lime on EPC basis, including a LimeDry lime mud washing and dewatering filter, an LMD LimeKiln feeding system, a LimeCool and a LimeFire multi fuel burner. Efficient lime mud washing with a LimeDry filter provides high-quality lime mud to minimize lime kiln emissions. ANDRITZ’s proven lime kiln technology has worldwide project references and ensures optimised energy consumption and high availability of lime kiln operations.
