AFRY to Support Nordic Paper’s Strategic Investments for Sustainable Kraft Paper Production
Nordic Paper, one of the leading specialty paper producers with its base in Scandinavia, has selected AFRY as its engineering and project management partner for the strategic investment projects at its Bäckhammar mill in Sweden. The projects include a new wood room and a new electrostatic filter.
Nordic Paper has decided to invest approximately SEK850 (USD82.85) million to enhance the sustainability performance and competitiveness of the Bäckhammar mill, which produces kraft paper for various applications. An important component of the investment is a new wood room providing for both strategic flexibility in raw material sourcing and efficiency gains in the production. The emissions of dust to air will be reduced by more than two thirds through the installation of a new electrostatic filter.
AFRY delivers project management services for projects and multi-disciplinary engineering services covering the process, mechanical, piping, electrical, automation and instrumentation. The project is a continuation of the pre-study phase of the projects that AFRY has also been involved in. The value of AFRY’s assignment is not disclosed.
We are proud that Nordic Paper has chosen us as an engineering partner in an investment that will enable growth and at the same time accelerate the transition to a sustainable society. We will support Bäckhammar’s strategic investment with our local resources and specialists across AFRY, ensuring the best possible team and result for the project.
